The Dudhsagar waterfall is located on the Mandovi river which is pouring down from the steep mountain ranges of about 1017 feet.
The mountain range is said to originate from the Deccan Plateau of Karnataka and flows through the Western Ghats.
As the river reaches the border of Goa and Karnataka it represents itself in the form of a waterfall. The charming beauty makes it the most spectacular destination in Goa.
How to reach Dudhsagar Falls, Goa
You can board a bus from Panaji and get down at Tambdi Surla or you can also prefer a hired car or self-drive there.
Once you descend at Tambdi Surla, you can reach Dudhsagar falls by a hired taxi.
Dudhsagar falls is located approximately 70 km from Panaji. The bus journey from Panaji will approximately cost you Rs 1000-1300 per head.
Goa International Airport is also located approximately 70 km from Dudhsagar Falls.
You can take a hired cab which will take approximately 2 hours to reach the final destination. You can also take a train from nearby Collem station.
Timings and entry fee
Dudhsagar Waterfall timings: Daily from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
You do not need to pay any entry fee to see Dudhsagar Falls.
Best time to visit Dudhsagar falls, Goa
The best time to visit Dudhsagar waterfalls is from October to May as the Jeep Safari doesn’t operate during the monsoon season.
The water increases in volume during the monsoon season so it is risky for a Jeep Safari to explore the pool and waterfall.
Although many people believe that monsoon is the best visiting Dudhsagar Falls as the water levels are higher than normal and this gives rise to a splendid few of the falls.
The weather is pleasant and the milky white flow of the water is a treat to the eyes.
Jeep Safari in Mollem National park Dudhsagar Falls
Jeep Safari is the most reliable and convenient way to explore the jungle and reach Dudhsagar falls.
Approximately, it takes 40 to 50 minutes to cross the jungles and enjoy its scenic beauty.
To reach the Dudhsagar Falls you need to start your journey from the Mollem National park and pass the Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary.
You can make your journey exciting by taking photographs of small streams and the breathtaking wild beauty of the forest.
If you are lucky enough, you can watch a diverse range of bird species like kingfishers, hornbill, drongo, fairy bluebird, Grey Jungle fowl, flycatcher.
Don’t miss the amazing species of animals found here like wild boar, langur, spotted deer, flying squirrel, civet, and wild boar!
You can pre-book for the Jeep Safari as they provide online booking facilities for the tourists to avoid any last-hour rush.
A jeep takes approximately 6-7 people at a time. You have to necessarily put on a life jacket if you go near the falls and wear safety shoes for convenient walking through the rocky terrain.
Carrying expensive handy cam is entirely under the responsibility of the travelers.
Places to stay near Dudhsagar falls
Jungle Book is a wonderful accommodation located in Sanguem, which takes 60 minutes from Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary.
Continental breakfast is available every morning at Rs 200 per person.
Other amenities are available here with a protective environment. You can also choose to stay in Shangri La Jungle Resort which approximately costs Rs 6,250 per head/night or Dudhsagar Spa resort which charges Rs 2500 per head per night.
Both these resorts are 11-13 km from Dudhsagar waterfalls.
Dudhsagar Plantation and Dandeli-Aura are some other famous accommodations near Dudhsagar waterfalls.
You can have peaceful and reviving moments at these resorts. Saligao Stories, Guns, and Roses, and Hill View Restaurant offer tourists delicious meals and food.
Other attractions to see near Dudhsagar falls, Goa
You must visit the Tambdi Surla Mahadev temple which is located in a secluded area and is surrounded by scenic beauty and tranquillity. This religious place is peaceful and amazing.
Sahyadri Spice Farm is also an important tourist destination and the aromatic spices will melt your heart away.
Dudhsagar Farmstay and Plantation is another place often visited by local and international tourists.
