One confirmed case of Coronavirus has been reported from Bhubaneswar in Odisha. According to the reports, this is the first confirmed coronavirus case from Odisha.
The person is said to have a travel history to Italy. He is now admitted to a Bhubaneswar hospital.
India is witnessing a pointy surge in COVID-19 cases. With the latest case reported from Odisha, the total number of coronavirus patients in India now stands at 114.
Maharashtra now accounts for the most number of COVID-19 cases, 33 cases. Kerala accounted for the second-highest number of cases in India, at 24, followed by Uttar Pradesh at 12, and seven in Delhi and eight in Karnataka.
Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday declared a public health emergency within the state, ordering the closure of faculties, colleges, cinema halls, swimming pools, and gymnasiums till 31st March as a precaution against the spread of novel coronavirus.
Patnaik also declared COVID-19 a ‘state disaster’.
All educational institutions shall remain shut till the end of March apart from examinations.
The state government had issued a notice mentioning that all official gatherings including seminars, workshops, and conferences are to be canceled till further notice.
Besides Odisha, Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh have ordered the closure of faculties and colleges in the respective state.
