WhatsApp is rolling out a brand new feature to its users within its beta version.
The instant messaging application is testing a brand new ‘self-destructing’ messages feature.
As the name suggests, messages will be timed to self-destruct within a stipulated period of time.
Similar to the existing Stories feature on the app, which lets users post pictures and videos for 24 hours, this new feature will limit the timing on the text sent and is expected to be restricted to private and group chats only.
The feature is still disabled within the app but it may soon get operational in the future updates of the app.
Since the feature is currently not functional on the beta versions of the app, we cannot say anything for sure about its availability for the stable versions of WhatsApp.
WhatsApp recently launched its Dark Mode feature, which was within the development phase for quite a long period.
The feature was unrolled to different users last week.
The feature lets the users switch to a dark-colored theme which is relatively easy on the eyes, especially in dimly-lit spaces.
Considering the time it took for WhatsApp to introduce dark mode on the stable version, the new self-destruct feature may take quite a long time till we finally get to use the feature.
